Terms of Service
Last updated June 11, 2026
These Terms of Service govern your use of Immigrantio. By creating an account, booking a consultation, or listing as a lawyer, you agree to them. In short: Immigrantio is an online marketplace — a neutral venue where independent US immigration lawyers and law firms publish their profiles and clients can discover them, communicate with them, and book consultations. We are not a law firm, we do not provide legal services or advice, and we are not a party to — and accept no responsibility for — the relationship between clients and lawyers.
1. About these Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Immigrantio ("Immigrantio", "we", "us", "our") the operator of immigrantio.com and its related services (the "Platform").
By accessing or using the Platform — as a visitor, as a client looking for legal help, or as a lawyer or law firm offering services — you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
2. What Immigrantio is — a marketplace, not a law firm
Immigrantio is an online marketplace and technology platform. Independent US immigration attorneys and law firms ("Lawyers") create and publish their own profiles on the Platform; individuals ("Clients") can discover and compare those profiles, communicate with Lawyers, and book consultations with them.
Our role is limited to providing the technology that makes those interactions possible: profile listings, search and comparison tools, a booking calendar, payment processing for consultation fees (via our payment processor), client messaging, and lightweight practice-management tools. We provide the venue; we do not provide, supervise, direct, or control the legal services themselves.
Immigrantio is not a law firm, not a lawyer referral service, not a prepaid legal services plan, and not an employment agency. We do not practice law, we do not provide legal advice, representation, or opinions, and we do not participate in, oversee, or take responsibility for any consultation or engagement between a Client and a Lawyer.
All profile content — credentials, practice areas, experience, prices, photos, and descriptions — is created and published by the Lawyers themselves. Lawyers are solely responsible for the accuracy of their listings.
3. Lawyers are independent professionals
Lawyers on the Platform are independent third-party professionals. They are not employees, agents, partners, joint venturers, franchisees, or representatives of Immigrantio, and nothing in these Terms creates any such relationship.
Lawyers act exclusively in their own name and on their own account. They have no authority to act for, bind, or make commitments on behalf of Immigrantio, and Immigrantio has no authority to act for or bind any Lawyer.
Each Lawyer is solely responsible for the legal services they provide or fail to provide, for the advice they give, for their professional conduct, for compliance with the rules of every bar to which they are admitted, and for their own taxes, licensing, and professional liability (malpractice) insurance.
4. Limited verification; no endorsement or recommendation
Before a Lawyer's profile goes live we perform a limited check that the Lawyer holds an active license with at least one US state bar, and we may re-check or request documentation at any time. This check is limited in scope: it is not a guarantee of any Lawyer's competence, quality, specialization, disciplinary history, insurance coverage, or suitability for your matter, and it does not constitute due diligence on your behalf.
Immigrantio does not endorse, recommend, or vouch for any Lawyer. Search ordering, filters, badges, ratings, "featured" placements, and similar signals are produced by algorithms, user reviews, or paid promotional options; none of them is an endorsement, referral, or statement about quality by Immigrantio.
You are solely responsible for evaluating and selecting a Lawyer, including verifying their credentials and asking the questions that matter for your case. You use the services of any Lawyer at your own risk.
5. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract to use the Platform.
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account.
Lawyers may list on the Platform only if they hold an active, unrestricted license to practice law from at least one US state bar. We may request verification of bar credentials and may suspend or remove any listing with false, expired, or unverifiable credentials.
You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information and to keep it up to date.
6. Consultation bookings (Clients)
When you book a consultation, you choose a Lawyer, a time slot, and a consultation type (video, phone, or in person). The consultation fee is shown clearly before you confirm. Immigrantio does not add any hidden booking fees on top of the price you see.
When you submit a booking, your payment card is authorized (pre-authorized) for the consultation fee. The Lawyer then has a limited time — typically 24 hours — to accept the request.
The fee is charged (captured) only when the Lawyer accepts the booking. If the Lawyer declines the request or does not respond in time, the authorization is released and you are not charged.
Some Lawyers offer a free initial consultation. Where a consultation is free, no charge is made.
The consultation itself — its content, quality, conduct, and any advice given in it — is provided solely by the Lawyer. Immigrantio facilitates the scheduling and payment of the consultation but is not a party to it, does not attend or monitor it, and is not responsible for what happens during it (whether it takes place online, by phone, or in person).
A consultation is an initial meeting only. Any decision to retain a Lawyer for ongoing legal work is made directly between you and the Lawyer, on terms you agree between yourselves; Immigrantio is not a party to any engagement or retainer agreement.
7. Lawyer obligations (Lawyers)
If you list on the Platform as a Lawyer, you represent and warrant that you hold an active, unrestricted US state bar license, and you agree that you are solely responsible for:
- the accuracy and lawfulness of your profile, pricing, and all content you publish;
- the legal services and advice you provide to Clients, and their quality and outcomes;
- compliance with all rules of professional conduct that apply to you — including advertising and solicitation rules, conflict-of-interest checks, confidentiality, trust-accounting, and unauthorized-practice-of-law rules in the jurisdictions where your clients are located;
- entering into your own engagement or retainer agreements with Clients for any work beyond the initial consultation;
- maintaining any professional liability (malpractice) insurance required of you; and
- your own taxes and regulatory filings.
Immigrantio does not direct or control how you practice and assumes no responsibility for your compliance with professional obligations.
8. Lawyer subscription plans (Lawyers)
Lawyers and law firms may use the Platform on a free plan or on a paid subscription plan. Paid plans unlock additional features such as enhanced profile visibility, a higher volume of client inquiries, and additional promotional tools.
Current plan names, features, and prices are shown on our pricing page at immigrantio.com/for-lawyers. Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis — monthly or annually, depending on the billing cycle you select — and renew automatically until cancelled.
Where a free trial is offered, your selected paid plan begins billing automatically at the end of the trial period unless you cancel before the trial ends.
You can cancel a subscription at any time from your dashboard. Cancellation stops future renewals; it takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period, and you keep paid features until then.
9. Promotional placements
Lawyers may purchase optional, time-limited promotional placements (for example, a "featured" homepage placement). The price and duration of each placement are shown before purchase.
Promotional placements affect only the visibility or ordering of a listing. They do not guarantee any number of inquiries, bookings, or particular outcomes — and, as set out in Section 4, paid placement is not an endorsement or recommendation by Immigrantio.
10. Payments and payment processing
All payments on the Platform — consultation fees, subscription plans, and promotional placements — are processed by Stripe, Inc., our third-party payment processor. By making a payment you also agree to Stripe's terms and authorize the applicable charge.
Immigrantio does not store full payment card numbers on its servers; card data is handled directly by Stripe. Prices are stated in US dollars and exclude any taxes that may apply.
Immigrantio does not take a commission or per-consultation cut from a Lawyer's consultation fees. Lawyers pay only for their subscription plan and any optional promotional placements they choose.
The consultation fee is the only Client payment the Platform processes. Case fees, retainers, flat fees, and milestone payments for ongoing legal representation are arranged, invoiced, and paid directly between the Client and the Lawyer outside the Platform. Immigrantio is not a party to those payments, does not hold or escrow them, and bears no responsibility for them — including for any dispute, non-payment, or refund relating to them.
11. Refunds and cancellations
Consultations (Clients): You may cancel a booked consultation free of charge up to 24 hours before its scheduled start time; if the fee was already captured it is refunded in full. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the start time are subject to the Lawyer's stated cancellation policy. If a Lawyer fails to attend a confirmed consultation, you are entitled to a full refund of the consultation fee.
To request a consultation refund, contact us at [email protected]. We review and process eligible refunds to the original payment method, typically within 5–10 business days.
Subscriptions (Lawyers): Subscription plans renew automatically. You may cancel at any time to stop future renewals. Subscription fees already paid for the current billing period are non-refundable except where required by law. If you believe you were billed in error, contact us at [email protected].
Promotional placements: Because promotional placements take effect immediately, they are non-refundable once the placement has started, except where required by law.
12. Communications on the Platform
The Platform includes messaging tools that let Clients and Lawyers communicate, and booking tools that may carry meeting links or call details supplied by the Lawyer. These tools are a neutral technical channel: Immigrantio is not a party to the communications sent through them and does not review, monitor, or verify their content (except as needed to operate the Platform, enforce these Terms, or comply with law).
Any advice, statements, promises, or commitments exchanged between a Client and a Lawyer — through Platform messaging, during a consultation, or anywhere else — are solely between those parties. Questions of confidentiality and attorney-client privilege in those communications are governed by the professional rules that bind the Lawyer, not by Immigrantio.
Video and phone consultations may run on third-party tools (for example, a meeting link chosen by the Lawyer). Those tools are not provided by Immigrantio, and we are not responsible for their availability, security, or recording practices.
13. Reviews and user content
Only Clients who have completed a consultation with a Lawyer through the Platform may post a review of that Lawyer.
Reviews and other content you submit must be honest, lawful, and your own. Fake, paid, incentivized, or competitor-submitted reviews are prohibited, and we may remove content and suspend accounts that violate this rule.
Reviews, ratings, profiles, and messages are user-generated content. They reflect the views of the users who post them, not the views of Immigrantio. We do not adopt, verify, or endorse user content and, to the maximum extent permitted by law, are not liable for it. We act as an interactive computer service that hosts content provided by others; we may moderate or remove content at our discretion, but we are under no obligation to do so.
You retain ownership of the content you submit. By submitting content (reviews, messages, profile text, or images) you grant Immigrantio a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute it for the purpose of operating and promoting the Platform.
14. Interactions between Clients and Lawyers; release
The Platform enables introductions, communication, and consultation booking. The resulting relationship — including the consultation itself, any engagement that follows, the quality and outcome of legal services, fees beyond the consultation fee, and any disagreement — exists solely between the Client and the Lawyer.
Immigrantio does not supervise users, does not conduct background checks beyond the limited bar-license check described in Section 4, and is not responsible for the acts or omissions of any Client or Lawyer, whether occurring on the Platform or off it (including at in-person meetings).
If you have a dispute with another user — for example, about the quality of legal services, missed appointments, fees, refunds owed by a Lawyer, or conduct during an engagement — you agree to resolve it directly with that user. To the maximum extent permitted by law, you release Immigrantio and its officers, employees, and agents from all claims, demands, and damages of every kind, known or unknown, arising out of or connected with such disputes or with the acts or omissions of other users.
We may, at our sole discretion, offer informal help with a dispute (for example, reviewing a refund request), but doing so does not make us a party to the dispute and does not create any obligation to intervene in the future.
15. No legal advice; no attorney-client relationship with Immigrantio
Using the Platform does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and Immigrantio. Immigrantio is not your lawyer and nothing on the Platform is legal advice from us.
An attorney-client relationship with a Lawyer is formed only when you and that Lawyer separately agree to it, typically through a signed engagement or retainer agreement — booking or attending a consultation does not by itself create one, except to the extent the Lawyer's professional rules say otherwise.
Articles, guides, FAQs, and other informational content on the Platform are general information only, may not reflect current law, and must not be relied on as a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney about your specific situation.
16. Acceptable use
You agree that you will not:
- use the Platform for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
- impersonate any person or misrepresent your identity, credentials, or affiliation;
- harass, threaten, defraud, or otherwise harm other users;
- post spam, malware, or false or misleading content;
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account, system, or data;
- scrape, copy, or harvest Platform data except as expressly permitted; or
- interfere with the normal operation, security, or integrity of the Platform.
17. Intellectual property
The Platform — including the Immigrantio name, logo, design, and software — is owned by Immigrantio and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Platform for its intended purpose.
Content you submit remains yours, subject to the license described in Section 13.
18. Third-party services
The Platform relies on third-party services we do not control — including payment processing (Stripe), email delivery, video-conferencing tools chosen by Lawyers, and external links. Your use of a third-party service is governed by that provider's own terms, and Immigrantio is not responsible for third-party services, their availability, or their actions.
19. Disclaimers
The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied (including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement), to the maximum extent permitted by law.
We do not warrant: the accuracy or completeness of Lawyer-supplied information; the qualifications, conduct, availability, or suitability of any Lawyer or Client; that any consultation will take place or meet your expectations; the outcome of any legal matter or government decision (including any USCIS, consular, or court decision); or that the Platform will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
Immigrantio is not responsible for the acts, omissions, advice, or services of any Lawyer, or for the conduct of any Client — whether on the Platform or off it. Any dispute about legal services or user conduct is solely between the users involved, as set out in Section 14.
20. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Immigrantio and its officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, data, or goodwill — and will not be liable for any damages arising out of (a) the acts or omissions of any Lawyer or Client, (b) any consultation or legal engagement, or (c) your reliance on any content on the Platform.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Immigrantio's total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Platform is limited to the greater of (a) the total amount you paid to Immigrantio in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) US $100.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability; in those jurisdictions, these limitations apply to the fullest extent permitted.
21. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Immigrantio and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of: your use of the Platform; your content; your interactions, consultations, or engagements with other users; if you are a Lawyer — the legal services you provide or fail to provide and any violation of professional rules; or your violation of these Terms, any law, or any third-party right.
22. Suspension and termination
You may close your account at any time from your dashboard or by contacting us.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or applicable law, or where necessary to protect the Platform or its users. Where practical we provide notice; in cases of fraud, abuse, or legal risk we may act immediately.
Cancelling a paid subscription is handled as described in Section 8; refund treatment is described in Section 11. Sections 3, 4, 10, 13, 14, 15, and 19–25 survive any termination.
23. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes we will provide notice — for example, by email or through the Platform — before they take effect. The "Last updated" date on this page shows when the Terms were last revised. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
24. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
Before filing any claim, you agree to first contact us at [email protected] with a written description of the dispute and give us 30 days to try to resolve it informally.
Any dispute not resolved informally will be heard exclusively by the state and federal courts located in Miami-Dade County, Florida, and you consent to their jurisdiction, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere. Either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court.
To the extent permitted by law, you and Immigrantio each waive any right to a jury trial and agree that disputes may be brought only in an individual capacity — not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, or representative proceeding.
Any claim must be filed within one year after it arose, unless a longer period is required by law.
25. Miscellaneous
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any policies referenced in them, are the entire agreement between you and Immigrantio about the Platform.
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, it will be modified to the minimum extent necessary (or severed), and the remaining provisions stay in full force.
Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control (force majeure).
